The
Arts
Many
times, words alone are too scary for kids who are
dealing with the harsh realities of life and death
in areas ravaged by HIV/AIDS. Try putting the sadness
to music, or acting out fear in dramas, or finding
humor in the confusion of it all, or expressing all
of those emotions in silent dance. It works.
Our
music and performing arts curriculum is carefully
designed to help train young music and performing
arts teachers to handle the often complex emotional
landscape that accompanies working with vulnerable
children.
We
work to train teachers how to help reluctant children
open up and trust that their feelings will be respected,
and to help eager children hone their skills on stage.
