HIV is virtually 100% preventable. Every individual can control his or her susceptibility with the decisions he or she makes.
Overview
The goal is to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS and to reduce the incidence of AIDS-related deaths.
The mission is to create opportunity for healthier futures for children living amidst the scourge of HIV/AIDS.
The TRIAD Trust is a consortium of exceptional athletes, coaches, artists, musicians, journalists, filmmakers, physicians, educators, policy-makers and health care advocates dedicated to increasing HIV/AIDS awareness and encouraging prevention. We train local leaders to run sustainable sports, arts and media programs for orphans and vulnerable children in areas affected by HIV/AIDS. These programs are built around a core curriculum of HIV and life skills education. They engage children and young adults in activities in which learning about healthy decisions is dynamic, creative, and exciting.
TRIAD has built a dependable team of expert volunteers in the following fields.
- Medicine, Health Care, and Education
- Sports (Soccer and Basketball)
- Arts (Performing Arts and Music)
- Media (Photography, Documentary and Journalism)
TRIAD’s expert volunteers visit and assess the specific needs of a community with exceptional respect for maintaining its cultural integrity.
While there, the volunteers:
- - Identify leaders within the community;
- - Train these community leaders to help create sustained and sustainable HIV education programs and local resources;
- - Inspire the orphans and vulnerable children in the community to lead positive lifestyles via these community leaders;
- - Provide ongoing mentorship to local leaders after TRIAD leaves the community;
- - Raise sustainable financial support and material assistance for the ongoing work in each of TRIAD’s partner communities;
- - Train local stakeholders to raise their own network of supporters and create income-generating activities.
